Mastercard Memorial Cup Legacy Project scores with JMCC kids and families! Date Posted: Thursday, May 25, 2017
“Amazing!" “Wonderful!” “Wow!” These were just some of the many praises heard through the halls of The John McGivney Centre (JMCC) on Tuesday, May 23 at JMCC during the Official Grand Opening of JMCCs new Smilezones.
JMCCs Smilezone transformation, a MasterCard Memorial Cup Legacy project, was made possible thanks to the Smilezone Foundation, the Windsor Spitfires, the Canadian Hockey League and the Happy Soul Project.
“Giving back to the community is one of the most important things we can do,” said Bob Boughner, Windsor Spitfires. “As part of our MasterCard Memorial Cup Legacy Project we are celebrating local organizations and for us, the John McGivney Children’s Centre is a perfect choice.”
JMCCs new zones include engaging murals, bright and friendly colours and new activities, making the public spaces at JMCC even more welcoming for children and families who use the Centre.
“I love how bright and inviting the Centre feels. It is like a ray of sunshine for parents and kids. The murals, colours and activities help make us feel comfortable and welcome,” said Kirzstina Muscat whose daughter Vanessa, a student at the JMCC school, has been receiving therapy services at the Centre since she was a baby.
At JMCC, we are committed to delivering family-centred care and service. This means, that the kids that we treat and their families are at the centre of everything that we do. A huge part of this is ensuring that our families feel comfortable and welcome whenever they visit our Centre.
"Our new look will continue to put smiles on the faces of our kids and our families. It helps them to feel welcome and comfortable when they come into our Centre and this is exactly how we want them to feel," said Wendy Tavares, Acting Clinical Director, JMCC.
