Annual General Meeting: A wonderful evening to celebrate a great year!
Date Posted: Wednesday, June 14, 2017

At JMCC, our Annual General Meeting provides a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate the success of the past year and look forward to our future and this year’s meeting was no different!  On June 13, JMCC board members and staff were joined by families, community partners and other guests for this year’s AGM. Councillor John Elliott brought greetings from the City of Windsor, Warden Tom Bain brought greetings from the County of Essex and our MPP Lisa Gretzky also brought greetings.

Cody Ajersch was this year’s recipient of the JMCC Bursary! Cody is a JMCC graduate who has demonstrated excellence in both academic and extra-curricular involvement. We all wish Cody the best of luck as you continue your studies at St. Clair College. Congrats Cody!

Allison Hawkins, whose son Christopher has been receiving services at JMCC for 10 years, delivered this year’s Keynote Address. She reflected on her family's experience at JMCC and the wonderful service they have received and also provided an important family perspective on the importance of family engagement, providing insights on ways we can continue to collaborate with and engage our families.

This year, there were three Friend of the Centre awards presented at the AGM. The Friend of the Centre is an award initiated in June 2005 and presented annually by the Board of Directors at their Annual General Meeting, to recognize outstanding contributions by individuals and corporations that support the work of JMCC; thereby positively impacting the quality of life for children and youth with special needs and their families.

In Honour of the Ones we Love was recognized for their support of the Play McGivney accessible playground project. The In Honour of The Ones we Love team has been instrumental in making the dream of an accessible playground at JMCC a reality.  Anita Imperioli and Teresa Silvestri attended the meeting to accept the award.

The Smilezone Foundation and the Windsor Spitfires Foundation were both recognized for their work to give the inside of JMCC a new look! Through a wonderful partnership between these two organizations, nine zones at JMCC were transformed into colourful, welcoming and even more child and family friendly areas. Scott Bachly accepted the award on behalf of the Smilezone Foundation.

Thank you to all who attended!
