(Windsor, Ontario, August 20, 2015) – The John McGivney Children’s Centre has launched a newly redesigned child care program for children aged 18 months to five years. This distinctive program welcomes children with special needs, and those without, to grow together in an enriched, state-of-the-art setting. The inclusive model builds friendships between children of all abilities who motivate one another and learn through play.
During today’s celebration event, Elaine Whitmore, Chief Executive Officer said, “This newly redesigned child care program is the result of a realignment of our resources to better meet the evolving needs of families and to improve accessibility. What remains constant is a family-centered program with on-site resource support and with direct access to pediatric rehabilitation expertise for children who require that level of care for a fully inclusive experience. The business model for the program is a financially sustainable one for the Centre, but most importantly, is affordable for families.”
The program can accommodate a total of 32 full-time children in two classrooms with the potential of expanding up to 48 across three classrooms. Full-time daily fees for the program are $45, and fee subsidies are available for those families who qualify. Enrollment will be split between children with special needs and those without.
Elaine Whitmore explained, “As a nationally accredited children’s treatment centre, we will continue to assess the program with feedback from our families, staff and key community partners to ensure we are doing our absolute best to achieve our goal of ‘helping abilities grow’ for the children and families we support in the Windsor-Essex region.”
Drop-in open house hours for families to meet the teachers, tour the classrooms and explore the courtyard playground will be held on Thursday, August 27 and on Wednesday, September 2; from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and from 3 pm to 6 pm on both days. Enrollment applications are available on the Centre’s website: www.jmccentre.ca.
