Kindness, Compassion and Generosity!Tuesday, November 12, 2013
On behalf of all children and families of JMCC, our heartfelt thanks to the Scott family for their recent generous contribution and continued support of the Centre. When we think of kindness and compassion, we think of the Scott Family! Jim, Heather and their daughter Jordan, as well as Jim’s mother Mrs. Scott, paid us a visit to learn all about JMCC, but more importantly, to meet and visit with our children. Seen in the photograph with the Scott family is Frankie our “Social Butterfly” who shared his jokes with our guests via his Dynovox talker.
Sincere Thanks to Friends of The Centre!Tuesday, November 5, 2013
The John McGivney Children’s Centre would like to thank our many friends, partners, families and supporters who honoured us this past September in multiple initiatives undertaken to benefit JMCC.
Congratulations to RBC Royal Bank on a wonderful and successful 2013 charity golf tournament. Having had the pleasure of golfing in this first class tournament and as co-recipient of the proceeds, we are humbled by the generosity this event brings year after year.
Congratulations also to the Colchester South and Harrow Agriculture Society on the incredible success of the pie auction once again! The pie auction is one of the many highlights of the opening night of the Harrow Fair, and as charity recipients of the auction, we continue to be amazed at the tremendous outpouring of support it endures.
Thank you to those who helped make our John McGivney Children’s Centre 35th Anniversary Family & Friends Fun Day an overwhelming success! Under sunny skies the Centre saw over 500 guests arrive to participate in many fun activities, enjoy a barbeque lunch, rekindle friendships and create new memories. All this would not be possible without the extraordinary support of the community.
On behalf of JMCC children and families, staff and the Board of Directors, please accept our sincere appreciation to all the planners, participants, sponsors, volunteers, donors, pie bakers & buyers who made these events so successful!

In 2006, the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918) made a long-term commitment to donate $1 million to the facility upgrade and expansion of the John McGivney Children’s Centre. On Thursday, October 17, 2013 Rotary Club of Windsor (1918) presented their final donation, fulfilling this pledge two years ahead of schedule!
“We have supported the JMCC for over 45 years and are proud to be able to present a cheque in the amount of $317,600, which completes this million dollar commitment,” said Janet Kelly, President of the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918). “This donation is made possible due to the generosity of many of our members, proceeds from bequests, donations and investments within the Rotary Club of Windsor Foundation and funds generated from our premier fund-raising event, Art in the Park.”
The John McGivney Children’s Centre provides a range of rehabilitative services to over 2,300 children and youth with disabilities and special needs in Windsor and Essex County and is devoted to enriching their lives and helping them reach their full potential.
“We had outgrown our facilities and needed to significantly expand in order to meet the needs of our community,” said Elaine Whitmore, Executive Director, JMCC. “This million dollar contribution from the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918) has significantly impacted our ability to continue making a difference in the lives of children faced with challenges and helping them to grow and develop the skills and abilities they need to get the most out of life.”

Augmentative Communication Clinic Receives a Generous Donation!!Monday, December 10, 2012
ACC has received a significant donation of $14,000.00 from the Sertoma Foundation of Canada.
The Sertoma Club supports many of our clients. They have provided funding assistance for lease payments of their communication devices as well as funding assistance for purchases of communication devices including accessible phones that are not covered under the Assistive Devices Program. Their foundation provides annual donations to agencies providing services to clients with speech and/or hearing concerns. This year they have chosen the John McGivney Children’s Centre Augmentative Communication Clinic as the recipient of their donation.
These funds will be used towards the purchase of new assessment equipment and devices. This will allow our clients timely access to current technology.
