Annual Real Estate Board Award Winners Announced
By Dave HallThe Windsor Star Sarah McLean, who was four months pregnant when she rescued two men from a burning home last January, has been rewarded with an Act of Bravery award by the Windsor-Essex County Real Estate Board. McLean heard a loud explosion around 10:45 p.m. Jan. 31 and raced across the street to a neighbour's home which was already in flames. After attempts to kick in the front door failed, McLean climbed through a first-floor window and guided the home's two occupants to safety. The board's community service award was given to Stephen Payne of the John McGivney Children's Centre, an organization which helps children and young adults suffering with neurological problems. Anna Vozza of Bob Pedler Real Estate, who serves on the association's board and also acts as event co-ordinator for the International Women's Day committee, was named realtor of the year. The association's board also handed out $2,000 scholarships and bursaries to Stephanie Fernandes, Noelle Montcalm and Ashley Boutros.
