Executive Director Greeting

The last several years have been very busy ones for all of us at the Centre as we commenced our long awaited renovation and expansion of facility. Our thanks to the Ministry of Children and Youth Services that funded $10.8 million of the total $16.8 cost of this project. The Windsor and Essex County community, along with our families, dedicated staff, volunteers, campaign cabinet and board members have generously stepped forward to both personally donate and to engage others to contribute to our local capital campaign to raise the remaining $6 million. This has been a challenging endeavour during these especially difficult economic times for our community and all remain committed to continuing these efforts to a successful completion.

Prior to starting construction in November 2008 the Centre relocated its programs and services to our interim site at the former Ste. Anne High School in Tecumseh. I would like to extend our appreciation to the Windsor Essex District Catholic School Board and the town of Tecumseh for welcoming us with open arms and supporting us during our time at this location.

It is with great anticipation and excitement that we prepare for our move back to our new state of the art facility on Matchette Road at the end of March. We have watched with awe as the project has progressed under the leadership of our visionary architectural firm, The Walter Fedy Partnership and our very dedicated general contractor DeAngelis Construction along with all the local sub trades. Their partnership with us has resulted in a facility that will meet the needs of the children and families of Windsor and Essex County well into future.

Our new facility while impressive is simply the means by which our highly skilled clinical, medical, education, childcare and support staff can better provide critically essential services to children with disabilities and special needs. As we open the doors of the new Centre to our community we welcome you to stop in and visit us to see what amazing things a community working together can achieve.

Elaine Whitmore, Executive Director
