If there is one place that should be barrier-free, it’s the John McGivney Children’sCentre. The building was built to serve only 200, and now serves more than 2,100 each year. The proposed renovation and new 2-storey expansion will maximize the space available for clinical, family services, and assistive devices departments as well as medical clinics, administrative, education and family services programs. The square footage will be tripled to a total of 59,000 square feet of functional space, resulting in:
More individual treatment & clinic rooms
A family resource centre
Multipurpose and therapy gymnasiums
More space for specialized therapy equipment
More functional classrooms
Enhanced integrated preschool facilities
Outdoor accessible playground
